Prosecutors Considering Trying Teen as Adult in Mom's Death

Prosecutors say a 14-year-old boy accused of strangling and stabbing his pregnant mother more than 20 times at the home they shared south of Houston will more than likely be certified to stand trial as an adult.

The Galveston County Daily News reports prosecutor Paul Love declined to provide details on what was leading the district attorney's office toward making such a decision.

But Love says that information from the mother's autopsy report will "be a major determining factor."

The boy has been charged with a juvenile count of murder.

The Associated Press is not naming the boy because he is a juvenile or his parents because it would identify the boy.

Investigators have not indicated a motive in the killing. The woman's body was found Sept. 26.
