Mansfield police are investigating a string of break-ins at the golfing community near Walnut Creek Country Club. Four homes have been hit in just the past two weeks.
At this point, investigators don’t have any suspect information, but they say it appears the thieves are following a pattern.
Each of the homes they’ve targeted has had a backyard that leads directly onto the golf course.
Police believe the thieves are walking on the course to access the homes, out of view from the streets. In each case, they’ve forced their way into the house by smashing a back door or window. Once inside, they steal smaller items that they can carry easily.
Officials say these incidents are taking place in the late afternoon / early evening hours.
Mansfield police met with about 200 homeowners in the area last Thursday to make them aware situation and to give them suggestions on how they can better protect their homes.
They are urging all residents to report any suspicious behavior or activity in the area by calling 911 immediately.
