Arlington police shot a 44-year-old man after a nine-hour standoff at his home late Saturday night.
Neighbors said Martin Frederick threatened them with a rifle in the 1400 block of Briar Meadow on Saturday afternoon. Police said he pointed the weapon at people before going into his house and refusing to talk with police.
A SWAT team entered the house and tried to take Frederick into custody at about 11 p.m. after police obtained a search warrant. Police said he "met them with resistance," and an officer shot him.
Frederick was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Neighbors said Frederick has caused disturbances before. They said he walked around the neighborhood a few days ago carrying a machete and an American flag.
Police are investigating Frederick's activities and the shooting.
