Police: Serial Rapist Targeting Girls in North Dallas

Police warn parents to lock their doors

Police said they believe a serial rapist is stalking schoolgirls in North Dallas and attacking them when they are at home alone.

Investigators said three children, ages 12, 13 and 14, have been bound and sexually assaulted. Police said they believe the same man is responsible for all three attacks.

"These are very young girls and very fearful girls," Senior Cpl. Janice Crowther said. "They all tried to fight back."

In all three cases, the girls were home alone in apartment complexes in North Dallas, police said.

The most recent attack occurred Thursday at an apartment complex in the 9500 block of Royal Lane.

An aunt of one victim said she left the door unlocked one morning in late January while dropping her younger children off at school.

When she came home, she learned her 14-year-old niece had been tied up and sexually assaulted, she said.

"Don’t leave them alone; take care of them," the woman said.

Dallas police said they believe the man scouts out his victims before he attacks.

"Apparently, he is familiar enough with his victims to know when to go in and when the child is alone," Crowther said. "We want to do everything we can to stop this."

None of the girls reported seeing a gun, but he has threatened to kill his victims, police said.

The attacker wears a ski mask, so investigators only have a vague description of him, police said.
