Police: Lewisville Woman Fatally Stabbed; Son Injured

Investigators say woman, juvenile son attacked in their apartment

A Lewisville man has been charged with murder and attempted murder for the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend and her teenage son, police say.

Police said a woman not involved in the incident called 911 at about 7:20 p.m. to report a fight between a man and a woman.

She told the 911 operator that a woman, 39-year-old Norma Gomez, had been stabbed and was bleeding.

Investigators said the woman's attacker was her 24-year-old boyfriend, Nelson Flores.  According to police, Flores and Gomez had been living together about a year.

On Thursday night, police said the stabbing took place after Flores forced his way into a residence at the Basswood Manor Apartments on the 1000-block of Fox Avenue.

After the 911 call, Gomez was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after she arrived.

Gomez's 16-year-old son was also stabbed during the altercation and was airlifted to an area hospital in critical condition.

Flores was in police custody Thursday night at a hospital and was being treated for stab wounds.

Investigators said the Flores was not at the apartment when they arrived. Another man took him to an area hospital to get medical care for his injuries. Police said they do not know if the suspect's injuries were self-inflicted or sustained during the altercation at the woman's apartment.

Lewisville police have charged Flores with murder and attempted murder.  He is currently being held on $1,000,000 bond for each charge.

Detectives from the Lewisville Police Department are continuing to investigate the case.
