Police: Road Rage Wasn't a Factor in Fatal Crash

Driver ejected In crash

No criminal charges will be filed in connection with a fatal crash initially believed to be a case of road rage, North Richland Hills police said Thursday.

Charles Greer, 75, of Colleyville, lost control of his GMC Envoy Tuesday during lane changes and ended up hitting a tree near the Tarrant County College Northeast Campus, said Keith Bowman, a North Richland Hills police investigator.  Greer was ejected from the sport utility vehicle and died from his injuries.

Witnesses told police that Greer made erratic lane changes as he closely followed a black Maxima southbound on Boulevard 26.  After Greer crashed, witnesses said the driver of the Maxima appeared to pull over briefly, but then continued southbound.

That driver came forward and spoke to investigators on Wednesday and police said they determined that he did not do anything wrong and was simply switching lanes at the same time as Greer.

The individual’s identity will not be released because he is a witness and will not face any charges, police said.
