Police: Pregnant Woman Forced into Prostitution

Lubbock police arrested a man who they said forced his girlfriend into prostitution at their apartment when she was eight months pregnant.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported that police charged 44-year-old Smitty Lyons last week with a first-degree felony charge of continuous human trafficking and a misdemeanor charge of promoting prostitution.

Police said an undercover officer negotiated a price for sex with the girlfriend. They said leg restraints made from electrical cords were attached to the bed.

The girlfriend told police that Lyons paid someone to post sex ads online. She said he kept all the money and threatened her when she wanted to stop prostituting.

Lyons is being held at the Lubbock jail on $255,000 bond. Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
