Manhunt Underway After Body Possibly Dumped on Coit Road

A manhunt is underway as Dallas police look for a man who may have pushed a body out of a vehicle on Coit Road.

Police could only describe the subject of the manhunt as a Latin male wearing a bandana who fled on foot north on Coit Road toward Interstate 635 following a hit-and-run crash at about 7:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Sherri Jeffrey with the Dallas Police Department said they received several 911 calls reporting the incident where callers said a man was either pushed or fell out of a white Chevrolet sport utility vehicle.

That man was transported to Medical City Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. The victim's name has not yet been released.

After the man left the vehicle, the SUV traveled south on Coit Road where, according to the Dallas police report, the driver ran a red light, crashed into another car before hitting a sign and coming to a stop.

Following the crash, the driver ran from the scene.

"We are currently looking for the occupant of that vehicle.  He's a Latin male, wearing a bandana and dark-colored clothing.  He was last seen running northbound on Coit Road," said Monica Cordova, with the Dallas Police Department.

Police said the driver of the SUV is the subject of the manhunt and that the vehicle had not been reported stolen before the incident.

Dallas police said they are treating the incident as a homicide investigation. Crime scene technicians have been at the scene where the SUV came to a stop to dust for fingerprints and perform other forensic examinations.

NBC 5's Catherine Ross contributed to this report.
