Two people, including a young child, are hospitalized after a shooting Monday evening in southwest Dallas, police say.

Investigators said three people were in a car on the 5100 block of Mark Trail when a gold-colored Grand Marquis drove up, and a man fired gunshots toward the victims' car, striking a 25-year-old and a 2-year-old.

The third person in the victims' vehicle was not injured, police said.

The child was struck in the shoulder and transported to Children's Medical Center. The adult victim was hospitalized at Methodist Charlton Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
