Police said a 53-year-old man suspected of shooting a woman at a Euless apartment died after being involved in a crash on Interstate 35E in Dallas late Thursday night.
Euless police said the man — later identified as John Pierre DuPont — shot a woman at the Enclave at Bear Creek Apartments in the 800 block of East Ash Lane at about 11:15 p.m. and then drove away in an Infiniti sedan.
The victim was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound on her abdomen. Police said they expect her to live.
About 20 minutes later, police said they learned DuPont had involved in an unrelated crash on southbound I-35E near Woodall Rodgers Freeway. A gun was found in the Infiniti.
Officials said DuPont was transported to a hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced deceased.
Dallas police said they closed southbound I-35E to investigate.
