Police in a Houston suburb are investigating the death of a 10-month-old baby with severe burns on more than half of his body.
Vance Mitchell, a spokesman with the Pasadena Police Department, told the Houston Chronicle the boy died at Bayshore Medical Center Wednesday afternoon after apparently having been burned by scalding water.
Estella Olguin, a spokeswoman with Child Protective Services, said the family and child had been previously investigated. In June the agency received a report when the baby had a fractured leg. The child was placed with relatives until a court ruled in December that he should be returned to his parents. A case worker had visited the family earlier this month.
Authorities are awaiting autopsy results. Police said the family was not cooperating.
