Police Hope New Website Can Help Solve Cold Case

Police in North Richland Hills are hoping you can help solve a cold case.

The North Richland Hills Police Department has established a website dedicated to finding the person responsible for robbing a North Texas bank and shooting a police officer.

Investigators said a man robbed the Bank One on Watauga Road in Watauga on March 3, 2003.

Lt. Jeff Garner, who was a traffic officer at the time, attempted to stop him in the 7100 block of Bursey Road, but the man refused to stop and fired multiple shots at Garner, hitting him in his leg.

Garner returned fire, but the man was never caught.

To date, he's suspected of robbing multiple banks in several states.

The new website contains surveillance video of the bank robbery in Watauga, sketches of the man and the original police radio calls between Garner and dispatchers. There are also several newspaper clippings from reports that followed in the days after the shooting.

Police are hoping the website and social media posts will spark new leads in the case and lead to the man's arrest.

There is now a $13,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
