Police: Driver Strikes Pedestrian, Empty School

Austin police say a pedestrian has been hospitalized after being struck by a SUV that then crashed into a school.

KVUE-TV reported that officers think the pedestrian might have been intoxicated when he walked into the road on Wednesday night. Police said the SUV driver tried to avoid the man before hitting him and sending him about 10 feet into the air.

The SUV then crashed through a wall of the International Montessori House of Children. No one was in the school at the time of the crash.

The man was transported to an area hospital with injuries police say aren't life threatening. The SUV driver wasn't injured.

No charges have been reported.
