Police: Dallas Carjacker Targets Women Who Are Alone

Dallas police said a carjacker may be targeting women who are alone on or near Mockingbird Lane.

Investigators said they believe the same man has carjacked five women in the area in the past two months.

"He wants the easiest target he can find," Senior Cpl. Janice Crowther said.

All of the women were alone at the time of the thefts and were threatened either with a gun or a knife.

Rosario Celaya, a Dallas schoolteacher, was parking her car at an apartment complex on Matilda, off of Mockingbird, when her car was stolen.

"When I was getting out of the car, he was just next to me, pointing a gun at me and telling me to give him the keys and get out of the car," she said.

Police said other victims include an 87-year-old woman leaving a fabric store, a woman leaving a Chase ATM and a student filling up her tank at a gas station on Mockingbird Lane near Greenville Avenue.

Four of the five incidents took place in broad daylight.

None of the women have been hurt, and they have given police a similar description of the carjacker, investigators said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dallas police.
