Arlington Teen's Death Ruled Homicide

The death of an Arlington teenager who was found dead in bed by her mother has been ruled a homicide, police said Tuesday.

Police said Elizabeth Villa, 13, would not respond when her mother tried to wake her up on Monday morning.

Police said Monday the girl's death is suspicious but declined to elaborate.

"There are some things that concern the detectives; nothing that we're going to share at this time," Lt. Blake Miller said.

Police would not comment on how her body was found or what physical evidence was gathered.

"All that information -- detectives are kind of keeping close to the vest right now until they get more information from the medical examiner," Miller said.

Investigators are building a timeline of the girl's activities in the days leading up to her death.

Villa was a seventh grader at Hutcheson Junior High and lived at the Cedar Point apartments in the 2000 block of Cherry Point Drive. Neighbors said the girl had an older brother and younger sister.

Her family is cooperating with the investigation.

Police said the official cause of death will take several days to determine.
