Police Blotter: Puppy Theft Caught On Tape

Here's a list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas law enforcement. List compiled on Aug. 15, 2011.

English Bulldog Puppy Snatched
A man and woman were caught stealing a 2-month-old English Bulldog puppy on camera over the weekend. It happened at the Petland store in Dallas. The couple asked employees if they could handle the puppy. Shortly after playing with him for a few minutes, they left with the puppy. Another customer witnessed the couple leaving the store and alerted the store staff. The puppy is micro-chipped and protected with HelpmefindMYPET.com, which is like an “Amber Alert” service for pets. Petland immediately reported the missing puppy to HelpmefindMYPET and an alert was sent out to the pet community within a 25 mile radius of the store including a photo of the puppy, physical description and the microchip information. Off-Duty Cop Arrested
An off-duty Dallas police officer was arrested after a fight at a nightclub. Andrew Clennel was charged with aggravated assault and is now on administrative leave. The incident is still under investigation.
 
Man Killed in I-20 Crash
An Arlington man was killed early Sunday in a crash on Interstate 20 in Grand Prairie after he climbed out of a wrecked vehicle. Michael Garza, 32, stepped out of a 2000 Honda Accord that had hit a barrier on the highway, according to the Star-Telegram.  Another vehicle struck the Honda, which hit Garza, Grand Prairie police said. He died from from multiple blunt trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's website.
