Police Blotter: Motel Robber Caught On Video

Here's a list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas law enforcement. List compiled on Aug. 24, 2011.

Motel Robber Caught On Video
Garland police are hoping surveillance video (see above) can help track down a motel robber. A man described as a white male with red curly hair, about 6 feet tall and weighing 230 to 240 pounds robbed the Microtel motel just before midnight Monday, August 15. Dressed in a green t-shirt and blue athletic shorts, the man jumped over the counter, hit the motel clerk and then grabbed fistfuls of cash from the register. He was last seen running away from the motel located at 1901 Pendleton Drive. Police detectives are asking for help identifying the man. Woman Trapped in Elevator
A woman was trapped in an elevator at the Sherry Lane Place business complex in North Dallas Wednesday. It happened after the buliding lost power and the elevator stopped. Dallas Fire-Rescue freed the woman and investigators determined a transformer that shorted out caused  the power outage.

Oak Cliff Apartment Fire
Firefighters battled a 3-alarm apartment fire on the 7500 block of Chaucer Place in Oak Cliff near U.S. Highway 67 and Camp Wisdom Road Wednesday morning. The fire was on the second floor of a two-story apartment building at the Regal Crossing Apartments. Six apartments were damaged. Twenty four people were displaced by the fire. It is not yet known what started the fire. There were no injuries reported.

Molotov Cocktail Thrown Into Apartment Office
Officials said someone threw a Molotov cocktail in the window of the manager's office at the Carousel Court Apartments on the 3800 S. Tyler in Oak Cliff overnight Tuesday. There were injuries and no one was in the office at that time.

Man Shot at DART Station
DART police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting at the Park Lane station late Tuesday evening. The shooting took place shortly before 10 p.m. at the station near U.S. Highway 75.  Two people arrested earlier were determined to not be involved. The third person being investigated, Quidale Dwight Dickerson, 19, was arrested Wednesday afternoon,  charged with deadly conduct and booked into the Lew Starrett Justice Center. The shooting victim was treated and released from the hospital.

Police Need Help ID'ing Robber
Dallas police are hoping surveillance video can help track down a convenience store robber. In the video, the ceiling of the A to Z Food Mart on Saint Augustine Road collapses just before the robber drops in from the ceiling.  The robber then grabbed money and a few items from the store before leaving. Anyone with information on the robber's identity is asked to call the Dallas Police Department.  See the video here.
