Police Blotter: Armed Robbery in Denton

Here's a list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas Law Enforcement. List compiled on Aug. 2, 2011.

Armed Robbery At Denton Drugstore
A man robbed a drugstore at gunpoint early Monday near Texas Women’s University, according to a police report. It happened in the 100 block of West University Drive. The suspect walked in, pointed his gun at two employees and ordered them to take him to the safe and open it. He handed one of the employees a blue bag and told her to fill it up with all the money, according to the police report. Neither employee was hurt.
 
Dump Truck Fire
Firefighters responded to the scene of a tow truck on fire Tuesday morning. It happened in the 2100 block of Green Oaks Boulevard. Motorists along Interstate 30 said they saw lots of smoke and one person said they heard an explosion. No one was hurt.

Illegal Gambling House Shut Down
Fort Worth police have arrested seven people in connection with an illegal gambling operation in Haltom City. Police searched the location at 1710 North Beach Street and found 25 eight-liner machines and an undisclosed amount of cash, which they seized. Anyone with information about illegal gambling in Haltom City is asked to contact the Haltom City Police Department at 817-222-7000.
