1 Killed, 1 Injured in Shooting at Doughnut Shop
Police are investigating an early-morning shooting at Donuts in the 100 block of North Cedar Ridge in Duncanville. Carlos Martinez, a cook, died at the scene, and the owners' nephew, Chulwoong Nam, was shot in the leg and  transported to a Dallas hospital in stable condition. The owner's son said the gunman started shooting before demanding money. Police said the man fled the scene on foot. The owner's son said it is the second time the shop, which has been in business for nearly 30 years, has been robbed, but the first time there has been a shooting. DART Train Slams Into Car
A Dallas Area Rapid Transit light rail train crashed into a car stalled on the tracks in Garland on Tuesday night. The vehicle was left on northbound Garland Avenue, south of Walnut Street, on Tuesday night. No one was injured. The car’s driver notified police about the vehicle stalling on the tracks after the crash occurred. The train to stopped for an hour after the collision for an inspection and for the wreck to be cleared.

Plane Crashes in Denton
A single-engine plane crashed early Wednesday morning into a Denton pond off Farm-to-Market 1173, five miles northwest of the city of Krum, the Denton Sheriff’s Office said. The pilot and passenger of the plane safely escaped and called 911. Paramedics at the scene treated the two occupants for minor injuries. The pilot later went to the hospital for further examination.

Three Men Killed in Hood County Plane Crash
Three men died in a plane crash Tuesday night in southwest Hood County, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman said. The Beechcraft Bonanza C33 was reported at 9:30 p.m. in a hay field off of Farm Road 56, more than three miles south of Tolar, said Trooper Dub Gillum, DPS spokesman. The flight instructor Casey Brinegar, 26, and student Kartik Kalaichelvan, 22, died at the scene of the crash. The student’s brother, Pratik Kalaichelvan, 19, was transported by helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he died, DPS said. Federal aviation officials are investigating the cause of the crash.

Murder-Suicide Ruled in Deaths of Mayor, Daughter
The mayor of an upscale suburb of Dallas and her teenage daughter were found shot to death at their home Tuesday in an apparent murder-suicide, police said Wednesday. Police went to the home of Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters after the mayor did not show up for a City Council meeting. Police said four notes were left at the home, including one warning officers they were going to find something unpleasant inside that was taped to the front door with a key to the house. Driver of FedEx Truck Killed in Irving Crash
A FedEx driver died in a crash in Irving on Monday night. Irving police said Khaled Abushaaban, 27, died when the driver of a pickup truck lost control, crossed three lanes of traffic and then hit a cable barrier, sending his truck flying into a FedEx truck on the other side of the highway. The driver of the pickup truck, Justin Jones, 29, was hospitalized. Police said they are prepared to charge Jones with intoxication manslaughter. Read more on this story on NBCDFW.com.
