Police Arrest Man in Hammer Beating of Dallas Clerk

Dallas police have made an arrest in the robbery, beating of a grocery store clerk.

Kirk Jackson, 44, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery on Wednesday afternoon.

Jackson is accused beating a clerk with multiple hammers at a grocery store on Military Parkway in Dallas on Jan. 17.

The Dallas Police Department released graphic video of the crime, only because investigators believe someone may recognize the robber.

Police said the robber walked into the AZ Mart in Southeast Dallas at about 10 a.m. Jan 17.

For some reason, the clerk came out from behind the protective glass, and the robber slashed his throat. He dragged the clerk down an aisle stocked with hardware and proceeded to beat the clerk with several hammers.

Police said the man got away with some cash, although they are not certain how much.

The clerk was in critical condition after the beating.

He is now out of the hospital, resting at home.
