Plano Woman Wants Stolen Memories Returned

Box of irreplaceable photos stolen off front porch

A Plano woman said she wants a box of photos and other items that was stolen from her front porch returned, no questions asked.

Gayle Sullivan has become the family's archivist, keeping careful track of the old photographs and other items that track her family's history.

She has several albums in her home full of photos tracking her parents' courtship and honeymoon and the family's vacations in Atlantic City.

Sullivan and her sister had been making DVDs of old family pictures. She shipped a box with items dating back to the 1930s and 40s to herself from Maryland because of airline carry-on limits and fees.

The box was most likely taken from her front porch shortly after it was delivered by UPS, Sullivan said.

In addition to the photos, the box also contained the original tape of her wedding and her mother's yearbooks.

"The yearbooks are from when my mother went to high school, with all the autographs and notes and things," she said. "And it's a history of the times; it's kind of fun to look back and read some of the comments."

"We didn't inherit hundreds of thousands of dollars from our parents," she said. "It's what we have left of our parents and family legacy, and it was that last little bit that I was putting together to put on our bookshelves and kind of hold onto for our family."

Sullivan said the items are more valuable to her family than jewelry or property.

"We just wish we had it back," she said.

She said whoever took the items can bring them back to her, no questions asked, or drop them off at a Plano police station.
