Plano Student Competes in β€˜America's Got Talent' Finale

Gymnasts at the World Olympics Gymnastics Academy in Plano gathered Tuesday to watch their fellow athlete, Axle Osborne, compete in the finals of 'America's Got Talent' on NBC.

Osborne, a senior at Plano Senior High School, is a member of AcroArmy, one of the finalists on the show this season.

He is also a member of the World Olympics Gymnastics Academy in Plano, the same gym that has produced two Olympic gold medalists.

His coach, Brandi Wren, said Axle got the call to go to New York after a member of AcroArmy suffered an injury. Axle had to learn the choreography quickly and was featured in the front row of the team's performances on past shows.

His coach said he's a talented athlete who's bringing recognition to the sport of acrobatics.

"Even if they don't win, I think they've put a mark on the sport," said Wren. "So many people don't know about the sport of acrobatics, and it's a great sport. And people always ask why isn't it in the Olympics."

Axle's younger brother, Sladen, a junior at PSHS, is also part of the WOGA acrobatics team.

"Of course I'm proud of him! A little bit jealous, not gonna lie, it's an awesome opportunity!" said Sladen.

The 'America's Got Talent' results show finale airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on NBC 5.
