Plano Police Seeking Brazen Suspected Thief Caught on Camera

Plano police are hoping surveillance video can help solve an early morning break-in that happened while a family was home asleep.

It happened early Monday morning in west Plano’s Shoal Creek neighborhood.

Police said you can see a man on the home’s security camera positioned by the front door.

The man, wearing gloves, walks directly to the camera, looks straight in the lens and disables it.

“It appears he either spotted that camera or he knew that camera was there,” said Officer David Tilley, Plano police spokesman.

Tilley said the department does not know if the man was working alone or with a team.

They also can’t say whether or not he was armed.

They do know that the family, including children, were home at the time and asleep.

The thief or thieves took electronics and personal items.

Police said they released the video and images because the nature of the crime was “concerning”.

“To know that this individual came into your home and you didn’t know it while you and your children were there, it’s concern and it’s upsetting,” Tilley said.

He added the department has not matched the man’s face to any other open cases, nor have they seen an uptick of residential burglaries in the west Plano area.
