Pistol Ammunition Found in Elementary School Toilet: Police

A North Texas school was on lockdown for several hours Tuesday after ammunition was found in a toilet on campus.

Red Oak police recovered two Glock 43 pistol magazines and eight rounds of 9 mm pistol ammunition from a bathroom at Life School Elementary Charter School, located in the 700 block of south Interstate 35E in Red Oak.

A father of one of the school's students called police later in the day to tell them his child had taken two spare pistol magazines and ammo from their house and brought them to school.

The father told officers the actual gun was still in his gun safe at home. He is cooperating with police during the investigation.

The lockdown was lifted a short time later.

No injuries were reported.

Officers from the Red Oak ISD Police Department, Ferris ISD Police Department, Ovilla Police Department and Ellis County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
