Billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens is buying only about 300 wind turbines -- less than half of what he planned to order to build the world's largest wind farm in Texas.
Pickens said Tuesday in Dallas that he plans to take delivery of the turbines from GE for wind farms in Canada and Minnesota. Over the summer, Pickens backed off massive Texas wind farm plans that initially called for 687 turbines.
Pickens was speaking in Dallas as part of his campaign to promote alternative energy.
Texas is the nation's leading producer of wind energy.
