Perry Flashes Cash, Hutchison Plays It Quiet

Perry, Hutchison expected to spend tens of millions in primary

Gov. Rick Perry is a millionaire. Well, at least his campaign is.

Perry reported this week that he raised over $4 million in just nine days for 2010 reelection campaign. More than $450,000 of the cash came from online donations. That total brings Perry's campaign war chest to just over $9.3 million.

"“This outpouring of support from across the state clearly indicates that Texans have embraced Gov. Perry’s vision for Texas." said Mark Miner, Perry's campaign spokesman.

Perry political rival and primary opponent, US Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, hasn't released any solid numbers, but her campaign is rolling out numbers leading up ot the July 15 deadline. Hutchison's camp said that 6,500 supporters donated to her campaign in various amounts.

"“Kay Bailey Hutchison is proud of her strong statewide support, which is both broad and deep." said Hans Klingler, Hutchison's campaign spokesman.

Campaign watchers expect Perry and Hutchison to raise and spend double-digit millions in the primary.
