Passenger Killed in Garland Crash

One person is dead after an early-morning car crash in Garland.

Garland police said the driver of a Ford Focus failed to yield the right of way and turned left in front of a Jeep Cherokee at the intersection of state Highway 78 and Town Center Boulevard Tuesday at about 5:20 a.m.

The vehicles collided, killing a passenger in the Focus.  Both the driver of the Cherokee and Focus were transported to area hospitals, where they are expected to be OK.

The identity of the passenger killed in the crash has not yet been revealed.

Garland police said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.  Joe Harn, with the Garland Police Department, said the driver of the Ford Focus had their blood drawn to check for possible intoxication.
