Parker County Peach Growers Expecting Good Crop

With a North Texas peach festival approaching, area growers are harvesting their best crop in recent years.

The 30th annual Parker County Peach Festival is expected to draw more than 30,000 people on Saturday to downtown Weatherford, where festivalgoers can take in music, children's activities, arts and crafts, and of course, peaches.

Tammy Gazzola, president of Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event, tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, "It looks like a bumper crop. We're thrilled."

A string of bad years has featured late freezes, hail, extreme heat and drought. And the festival has even in past years been forced to import peaches from other parts of Texas. But not this year.
