One Arrested in Allen Pistol-Whipping

The Allen Police Department arrested a man overnight Wednesday in connection with a pistol-whipping and car theft that took place earlier that morning.

Rodricus Trushun Rodgers, 29, was arrested in Dallas and is one of three men police believe assaulted 38-year-old James Shaw and his family.

Police said three masked men forced their way into Shaw's home Wednesday morning and tied up his wife and daughter with duct tape before striking him repeatedly in the head with a pistol.

During the altercation, Shaw was able to remove the mask from one of his attackers. To his surprise, he knew the attacker as "Woody," a friend of his brother Edward that had visited his home during the Super Bowl.

The trio then left the scene in Shaw's 2006 Buick LaCrosse -- only to ditch the vehicle in an alleyway behind the Shaw's home.

During the investigtion, Woody was revealed to be Rodgers, of Monroe, La.

Officials said Rodgers was in possession of 40 lbs of marijuana, a .45 caliber handgun, duct tape, zip ties and bloody clothing when he was arrested.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that they are interviewing a person of interest who has additional information on the incident.
