Officials: Walker County Wildfire Leaves 700 Acres Burned

Crews have contained a wildfire that burned more than one square mile in an area north of Huntsville in Walker County.

The Texas A&M Forest Service says two homes were lost in the fire that was fully contained by Tuesday afternoon, a day after being sparked by a vehicle hauling hay.

Nobody was hurt.

Walker County Emergency Management Coordinator Butch Davis says the fire spread west from the intersection of FM 980 and FM 2628. Five barns and several sheds were destroyed.
