According to police about 30 people gathered in the parking lot at Buck's Cabaret in the 2300 block of Meacham Boulevard just after 2 a.m.

Two Fort Worth police officers patrolling the area saw the group and pulled into the parking lot concerned that a fight would soon break out.

Fort Worth Police Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Enright said the officers ordered the crowd to disperse but were ignored.

As they got closer to the group, the officers heard a gunshot. One of the officers then saw a man, later identified as 24-year-old Inocente Acevedo, pointing a gun at the crowd, so he shot him twice.

"There was one shot that was fired into the air during the course of the altercation between the two groups," Enright said. "The officers fired on him."

Police said that another man pulled Acevedo into a truck and sped away. Officers found the truck a short time later at a nearby hospital; Acevedo was in surgery.  The Associated Press reports the man to be in fair condition.

No other injuries were reported.

As of 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Acevedo remains in the hospital in fair condition. Enright said he is under arrest and will be charged with deadly conduct.

One officer was wearing a body camera, according to police, and investigators will review video from the incident.  Meanwhile, the officer involved in the shooting has been put on routine, administrative leave.

Fort Worth police asked that anyone with information about this incident contact them at 817-335-4222 and ask for the Major Case Unit.
