Deputy-Involved Shooting in Denton County

One person was shot during a deputy-involved shooting in Denton County on Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff's office said.

 

A Denton County Sheriff's Office representative said Alberto Guadalupe Contreras was shot in the arm when he resisted arrest.

 

Contreras was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

 

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Sandi Brackeen said Contreras would be returned to the Denton County Jail after his gunshot is treated

 

Deputies began looking for Contreras after he walked out of a Denton courtroom Wednesday morning. An arrest warrant for escape from custody was issued, and Contreras was located just before 3 p.m. in the 6600 block of Grissom Road. 

 

Contreras was set to appear on charges of driving while intoxicated, an open alcohol container, assault with bodily injury and criminal mischief.
