Northwest ISD Student Receives Free Car in Giveaway

Reward for good attendance and grades

The cheers from the stands at the Texas Motor Speedway Friday weren't for top race drivers but for top students from the Northwest ISD. They were also for the 2013 the "Strive-N-Drive" car giveaway.

The 25 students picked at random were finalists for a 2013 red Chevrolet Camaro. Each of the 25 had the chance to see if they had the lucky key.

Meagan Stonely from Byron Nelson high school couldn't believe it when she won. This is the first time that a student from her school has won the prized car. "I didn't think I was going to win," Stonely said.

But Stonely won't be behind the wheel any time soon, she's only 15 years old.  "I think it boils down to leadership and determination," said  Gabe Lozano, with Moritz Chevrolet. They provided the car.

To be a finalist, each student had to have good attendance and grades. The other 24 students will receive Dell laptop computers and tickets to the Hawaiian Falls waterpark.
