North Texas Sees Increase in Gas Prices

The price of gas has been at an all-time low recently, but many drivers have noticed a recent jump.

AAA Texas officials said gas prices rose $0.13 last week.

"Yea I am worried," Johnny Sanchez of Mansfield said. "I really can't afford it. I have a big truck, but with the gas prices now, I can fill up on $40 instead of $60 or $80 now."

AAA Texas says the statewide average is currently $1.98. Drivers in DFW pay the most in the state, averaging $2 for regular unleaded.

The cheapest gas, according to AAA Texas, is available in San Antonio, where regular unleaded costs $1.92.

The national average is still much higher at $2.15 per gallon.

"We just moved here for work from California, so gas is a lot more expensive over there," Jesus Morales of Arlington said. "We actually saved money when we moved here."

AAA Texas said the recent increase is due to refinery issues in the Midwest and because crude oil prices are trading at more stable levels.

The current gas price is still $1.10 less than the price at this time last year.
