Ellis County prosecutors said a 58-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing five children during a two-year period at his wife's day care.
Dennis Ray Avery of Waxahachie pleaded guilty to five counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Ellis County authorities said the victims were all younger than 6 years old and attended the home-based day care.
Avery elected for the jury to determine his punishment. The jury returned the verdict Thursday and the court ruled that Avery would serve five consecutive life sentences.
