North Texans Celebrate Martin Luther King's Legacy

Big parades in Dallas and Fort Worth mark MLK Day.

In Dallas, they held the 23rd annual Elite News Martin Luther King, Jr. parade.

Many people who said both the holiday and the parade carried even more significance this year, coming just one day before the inauguration of Barack Obama as the first African-American President of the United States.

NBC 5 anchor Kristi Nelson served as parade marshal.

The City of Fort Worth also celebrated Martin Luther King Day.

Thousands of people lined the streets this morning for the annual parade and celebration.

The parade featured floats, bands and dancers from various schools throughout the fort worth area.
