No Checks for TAPS Bus Drivers

It's pay day for bus drivers in Collin County but no checks are being handed out.

The drivers work for TAPS, the Texoma Area Paratransit System.

They were notified Friday that because of financial troubles, they won’t get paid until next week.

A spokesperson says TAPS has outstanding bills totaling about $4.4 million.

At least a dozen buses are parked indefinitely outside its McKinney office.

Weekend service in McKinney has ended altogether.

Routes have been cut in half. Today, McKinney city leaders met to discuss additional cuts. The cuts should be finalized at a TAPS board meeting November 13.

TAPS provides bus service in seven counties in north Texas: Collin, Grayson, Fannin, Cooke, Montague, Wise and Clay.
