No Charges in Massive Thanksgiving Pileup

A grand jury in Southeast Texas has decided not to bring criminal charges against the driver of a tractor trailer involved in a massive accident that killed two and injured more than 80 last Thanksgiving.

Assistant District Attorney Ramon Rodriguez told the Beaumont Enterprise Thursday that the Jefferson County grand jury no billed the driver.

The collision occurred in heavy fog at about 8:45 a.m. Thanksgiving Day on Interstate 10 southwest of Beaumont, a Gulf Coast city about 80 miles east of Houston.

Vincent and Debbie Leggio were on their way to Louisiana for a gambling trip when the wreck occurred. They died after their SUV was crushed by a tractor trailer. Lawyers for their family have filed a civil lawsuit against the trucking company and driver.
