No Charges in Little Elm High School Lockdown

The freshman at the center of a high school lockdown last week will not be charged in the incident, Little Elm police said Thursday.

Little Elm High School briefly was on a precautionary lockdown Oct. 30 because of a rumor that a student was bringing a gun to school. The school was locked down for about an hour and 40 minutes after students reported that a freshman had made threatening comments.

The student was in Dallas with his parents that day and was not in school.

Police said they interviewed the boy's family and decided not to charge the teen after a thorough investigation.

Last week, Police Chief Waylan Rhodes said the student was being teased at school when he threatened to bring a weapon to school the next day.

Contrary to initial reports, the threat was not posted on Facebook or any other social media site, Rhodes said.

Police conducted a room-to-room sweep of the high school while it was locked down. No one was injured, and no weapon was found.

NBC 5's Amanda Guerra and Brian Scott contributed to this report.
