The remains of newborn infant were found in an Abilene, Texas, residence after a woman went to a local hospital with severe bleeding attributed to a recent childbirth, police said.
Medical personnel at Hendrick Hospital determined that the woman had delivered a full-term baby a few hours before arriving there at 8:30 a.m. Monday. She had not brought an infant with her, so they contacted police.
Detectives went to a home and were able to locate tissue remains in its sewer. They later found the infant's body hidden inside the residence. Trauma was visible on the body, so the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Several suspects were being questioned but no charges had been filed as of Monday night.
