NBC 5 Viewers Rush to Help Autistic Teen

Christmas may come early for a young man thanks to NBC 5 viewers.

On Friday night, NBC 5's Julie Fine told viewers about Lee Huggins. The 18-year-old autistic student uses an $8000 device called a DynaVox to communicate.

But one week ago, it disappeared at the gym of Birdville High School.

On Friday night and throughout Saturday, NBC 5 viewers emailed our newsroom and put messages on the NBCDFW Facebook Fan Page offering to help Huggins receive a replacement.

On Saturday night, Huggin's mother Cheryl Kaufman told NBC DFW that a Fort Worth man offered to buy Huggins a new missing with the exact programs that he needs.

Kaufman has filed a police report for the original missing DynaVox.
