Mother Arrested After Child Left in Hot Car

A North Texas mother faces child endangerment charges after police said she left her 2-year-old son in a hot car.

Dallas police said a security guard at the Texas Workforce Commission in the 2700 block of Stemmons Freeway called 911 after he saw the boy inside the parked car with the windows cracked.

Police said the mother, 27-year-old Gloria Arellano, was inside the building with her infant child.

Dallas police arrested Arellano and Child Protective Services took custody of the two children.

The toddler was alone in the car for about 5-to-7 minutes and is expected to be OK, officials said.

Monday was the hottest day in North Texas so far this year. Temperatures at DFW International Airport hit 107 degrees Monday afternoon.
