Mom Accused of Trespassing to Confront Teacher

Student says woman banged on classroom door

Police said a mother who reportedly tried to confront a teacher during school hours at Allen High School on Friday was cited for trespassing.

Investigators said the woman had a beef with a teacher about her child's grades and wanted to discuss it.

Sophomore Brooke Lopez said the parent sat and waited in the hallway when the teacher wouldn't allow the woman inside the classroom.

"She was very angry, you could tell," Lopez said.

Lopez, who had been about to take a Spanish exam, said the parent caused a commotion in the hall.

"She was banging on the door, she was making a lot of noise at the door," she said.

Lopez was asked to go get security, she said. She said the mother called her out as she walked out of the classroom.

Lopez said the woman called her an expletive when she didn't acknowledge the woman.

"At this point, I'm like, 'Whoa,'" she said.

The parent said she didn't curse at Lopez, but referred to the teacher by a derogatory name.

Lozez's mother, Rhonda Babin, said the incident was "very upsetting."

"This lady wanted attention from somebody, and she was going to get it from somebody," she said.

Babin said she and her daughter learned that the parent convinced students to open a back door for her, despite surveillance and clearly posted signs.

"Anything could have happened," she said. "I don't want to think about what could have happened. Thank God no one was hurt."

Police issued the woman a trespassing citation and warned her she could be arrested if she returned. She said she hasn't decided whether she'll fight the citation.

An Allen Independent School District official said the district will remind students of the importance of building security.
