Thunderstorms Move Through North Texas

Most of North Texas is under a Flood Warning or Flood Advisory as more thunderstorms roll through the area Thursday morning.

NBC 5 Meteorologist Grant Johnston said rain is falling at a rate of nearly 2 inches per hour in the storms that began pushing through Dallas-Fort Worth just after 5 a.m., but there doesn't appear to be a threat of high wind or hail.

Wise County authorities reported several flooded streets including Farm-to-Market roads 730 and 1655. They also reported more than 150 power outages.[[273173921,C]]

Allen firefighters said a lightning strike was the cause of a fire at a home in the 2000 block of Boxwood Drive.

Wylie authorities said utility lines were down in the 800 block of Texas 78. They also said high water blocked Farm-to-Market Road 544 just south of Stone.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, causing several cancellations and delays. The stop was lifted at about 6:45 a.m.[[304538811,C]]

Storm chances will continue, but they will be much less numerous through Friday, Johnston said. Storms will increase again over the Memorial Day weekend, with an increased risk of renewed flash flooding.
