More Juveniles Arrested in Connection With DART Dragging Murder

Four juveniles now charged with capital murder

Dallas police say two more juveniles have been arrested in connection with the death of a 19-year-old who was dragged by a Dallas Area Rapid Transit train.

The boys arrested Wednesday were 12 and 14 years old.

A total of four juveniles have been charged with capital murder in this offense, police said.  Two arrests were made last week before Thanksgiving.

Police said four to five boys between the ages of 12 and 14 attacked 19-year-old Octavius Lanier on the platform of the MLK Station at about 6:40 p.m. Nov. 22, robbing him and pushing him into a moving train as it left the station.

Lanier was knocked into the side of the train and pinned between the train and the platform as it pulled away from the station, police said. Lanier was dragged several yards.

Witnesses told Dallas police that a group of boys was seen harassing Lanier before he exited the train at the MLK Station.
