Moped Rider Killed in Crash With Pickup Truck

The driver of a moped is dead after being struck by multiple vehicles on Central Expressway Monday night.

Police said the moped rider was first hit from behind by a Toyota Tundra and pushed onto the truck's hood before falling underneath the pickup. The rider was then hit by an oncoming vehicle.

Police said the driver of the truck stopped and attempted to stop oncoming vehicles from hitting the man, but saw at least one vehicle hit the rider.

Investigators determined the moped was so overloaded with bags that there were no visible lights to the rear and that the driver of the pickup likely never saw the moped rider until it was too late.
