Mom and Two Children Struck by Car in Lewisville

A mother and her two children were struck by a car near Lakeland Elementary School in the 1200 block of Edmonds Lane Thursday evening according to Lewisville police.

Police said the trio were crossing Edmonds Lane from the apartment complex across from the school when they were hit. The school was holding an open house Thursday night.

Police said two cars were side-by-side going southbound on Edmonds Lane, the driver in the right lane stopped, but the driver in the left lane did not see the three in the crosswalk because of the other car.

All three were struck and police said they went over the car's hood and hit the windshield.

The mother and one of the children were flown to the hospital. The other child was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Police said Thursday night that all three were in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they don't expect to file charges against the driver.
