The body of a 15-year-old boy who died while crossing the Texas desert has arrived in his home country of Guatemala.
The remains of Gilberto Francisco Ramos Juarez were flown to Guatemala City in a cargo plane and were turned over to his father at the airport's small chapel on Friday.
Gilberto's father, Francisco Ramos, is taking the gray and silver coffin in a pickup truck to his mountain hometown of San Jose de las Flores, where the family will hold a wake for him.
Francisco Ramos says the boy's mother was too ill to make the 200-mile journey to the airport.
The boy was found dead last month in brush less than a mile from the nearest U.S. home.
