Wayne Carter joined the NBC 5 Responds team in December 2016 from WREG-TV in Memphis. Wayne has more than 20 years of journalism experience and has covered a variety of consumer stories. His report on a mayor's misspending led to recovery of more than $100,000 in taxpayer money. In Virginia Beach, his investigation of a church fraud case led to criminal charges and property returned to parishioners. Wayne graduated from Syracuse University and has anchored and reported in Tennessee, Virginia, New York and Louisiana prior to moving to North Texas.
Samantha Chatman joined the NBC 5 Responds team in August 2016 after serving the people of Louisville, Kentucky and southern Indiana as the Business Reporter at WDRB News. Samantha has covered major company acquisitions, business openings and economic opportunities as well as major breaking news events. Samantha received her Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a minor in African-American Studies. She also has a certification in Public Relations from the university’s College of Media and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Amanda Lane Marek is the producer for the NBC 5 Responds team. Before joining NBC DFW in June 2016, she worked with investigative teams at news stations in Seattle, Phoenix, and Chicago. While working as a producer with NBC’s Consumer Investigative Center, she helped Chicago consumers recover over $350,000 in a time span of 5 months. While in Arizona, she was a contributor to a story submitted to I.R.E. that received an Honorable Mention for the FOI Award. The investigation delved into the safety of public school football helmets. Amanda is a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.
David Soltis is the award-winning photojournalist/editor for the NBC 5 Responds team. David is an NPPA award-winning photographer and was honored to be nominated for the 2015 Lone Star Emmy for Photographer - News. Before joining NBC DFW in April 2016, David worked in Houston, where he was picked to help launch KHOU-TV's consumer unit, "Watching Out for You." In 2015, several of his stories were awarded in the National Press Photographers Association's TV News Quarterly Clip Contest. David is a proud alumni of the University of Iowa Adler School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
