McKinney needs help to win up to $2 million in preservation funding for the city's performing arts center.
National Geographic and American Express are holding a contest called "Vote Your Main Street" to help preserve history.
Funds will go to rehabilitating sites around the country -- McKinney is competiting for funds that will go to restoration of the exterior of the Collin County Courthouse, which is currently occupied by the McKinney Performing Arts Center.
